Read through the handout with an article on internationalism and reading by Cathy Short, also diagram of the wheel of aggression- where would you be on this wheel.
Look also at the iceberg concept. The area below the water is what we are aiming to develop.
Activity: What has shaped you to be the person you are today? Draw or represent / then share and compare similarities.- Despite our differences we have been impacted by similar things even though the experinces themselves will be different.
Go to the standards and practices page and complete the table.

Artifacts- Year 1 will leave this until a unit later in the year which is perfect for this activity.
Names : Questions asked- What do you know about your name? Why do you have a name? What does your name mean?

Some of the children from my classes shared the following comments about their names. (It's very quiet so you will need to have your volume up full to hear it.)

I find it hard to ask the kids what their names mean because they don't really understand the question at this age. Also the picture activity would not be possibile to do at this age. I just did something like simple. I put up a map in my role play corner. The kids noticed it and showed them where we are on the map. Then some students started to ask where other countries are ( their home countries). I plan to put up their photos to show where they are from in the world.
